Zine!

LOOK AND FEEL OF MY ZINE

MOODBOARD

MATERIALS

It is widely debated whether virgin paper is more environmentally friendly than recycled paper. Sustainably grown virgin paper is believed by some to be better for the environment than recycled paper. This is because the forests grown to produce the paper are managed sustainably, and decrease carbon dioxide levels. The other side of this argument is that the wastewater and CO2 emissions from making recycled paper is significantly lower than virgin paper milling.
From printing companies that I have spoken to, I decided that a sustainably grown virgin paper would be the best option for a low environmental cost.

However, I think that if it can be avoided, it is best not to print things unnecessarily because all printing options have a significant environemntal toll. I chose to use scraps of cardboard and other compostable materials to create the cover. The goal was to make the zine compostable at the end of its life.

POSTER

The poster on the reverse of this zine serves as a helpful guide to what you can and cannot compost. It was important to me to ensure this zine in as useful as possible, and aligns with my values as a designer.
